Historic Hat Creek Ranch is located on one of the few remaining sections of the original Cariboo Wagon Road still accessible to the public. The site encompasses nearly 130 hectares (320 acres) of fields and rolling hills in British Columbia’s sunny southern Interior.
Many of the buildings stand as they did in 1901, with some dating back as early as 1860. The busiest period along the Road was between 1885 and 1905, when it served freight wagons and passengers traveling with the B.C. Express line (the “BX”).
We invite you to step back in time and explore this fascinating era through our exhibits and interpretive activities led by knowledgeable staff.
Historic Hat Creek Ranch is a Province of BC owned Heritage Property and a Government of Canada National Historic Site, located on the unceded territory of the Secwépemc (Shuswap) Peoples and managed by the St’uxwtews Pesuten Heritage Society.
